WHO WE ARE

Legler Engineering is a specialist pre-owned textile equipment dealer, sourcing a wide range of textile machinery for spinning, including spare parts and complete plants.

Current changes in the textile industry, including increasingly strict regulations and high operational costs, have led textile groups to seek new, innovative ways to optimize production, from recycling waste to acquiring used equipment.

Our machinery, which is mostly intended for the production of recycled fibers, is handpicked and inspected to ensure it complies with the highest performance standards, helping our clients optimize production while minimizing costs.

Based in Lugano, Switzerland, we strive to be a responsible business by adopting a sustainable approach to textile engineering, promoting environmental sustainability, and the reuse of textile waste.

EMBRACING A LEGACY OF INNOVATION

The name Legler is often associated with textile excellence.

In 1856, Mathias Legler founded one of the first weaving mills in Diesbach, Switzerland, and in 1888 the Legler family used the water from a nearby waterfall to power a hydroelectric generator, thereby creating the first power plant in Switzerland.

This marked the beginning of a long legacy of innovation that has been handed down generations for over a century. In 1988, Alessandro Legler graduated in textile engineering from Reutlingen University with a dream: to continue his ancestors' legacy and to promote the more responsible use of natural resources in the industry.

In 1995 Alessandro became production manager at Filber, the first Italian spinning mill entirely equipped with open-end spinning machines, founded by his father in 1969. During this time, he gained experience in yarn production using entirely cotton-waste textile products, equipping the plant with used machinery to maximize production.

In 2001 the textile production was permanently shut down, but the Legler legacy lives on: the same year, Alessandro founded Legler Engineering. Since then, the business has grown drastically to become one of the leading providers of used and refurbished spinning machines and open-end rotor spinning machines in Europe.
